Since EPR can be performed in 3D (EPRI) the imaging of oxygen, redox status, or even pH becomes possible. So far, EPR imaging was developed only in the academic domain. We would like to introduce a new solution for the preclinical application of EPRI called Electron-Resonance-Imaging (ERI). It allows researchers to use the potential of EPRI in their studies. The ERI solution opens new possibilities and gives endless ideas for its application in today’s preclinical studies.

What is Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR)? Journey through research projects and publications. What has happened from 1944 until now?
During this presentation, you will learn about the history of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), how the equipment developed through times and what obstacles must have been overcome to create a commercially used imager. You will hear about interesting research and projects carried by the world’s most famous scientists. See in which areas EPR was used and in which direction it is going right now.
Dr. Mikołaj Baranowski
Dr. Mikołaj Baranowski is Assistant Professor, Head of the Physical and Digital Electronics Laboratory at Adam Mickiewicz University, and R&D Department manager in Novilet. Dr. Baranowski finished his postgraduate studies "Study of Modern Educational Methodology" at AMU. He gained his experience during his career as an academic lecturer. He was awarded with a Scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for “Outstanding Young Scientists”. He is an author of many articles and he is a holder of 6 patents (two in the USA, four in Poland). Three of his patents were implemented into the production. Since 2003 he was awarded with 20 prices. He is highly involved in the education of young students, he supervised many masters and engineers.
Dr. Baranowski is interested in radio spectroscopy techniques especially EPR. He has experience with the construction of low-frequency imagers. He also developed new measurement techniques and image reconstruction SPI.
Trends in in-vivo EPR/ERI
The topics for our second webinar will cover major research avenues in contemporary EPR imaging of living animals and examples of applications. Which physiological parameters might be visualized and how relevant they are for biomedical studies.
Dr. Martyna Elas
Dr. Martyna Elas is specializing in preclinical imaging, especially in the field of anticancer therapies. She is an expert in oxygen mapping of tumours using electron paramagnetic resonance, vasculature imaging using ultrasound, computer tomography, and MRI. The radiobiology and mechanisms involved in metastasis lie also within the range of her studies. She is involved in many international collaborations, including the University of Chicago, Orlean University, Marie Curie Institute, and Geneva University. She is a Polish coordinator for the H2020 grant (UMCure2020) devoted to developing a cure for metastatic of uveal melanoma. Dr. Elas has been teaching biophysics in Poland and abroad (Orlean, Tbilisi) and was engaged in developing master and bachelor programs in biophysics.

Dr. Tomasz Czechowski
Dr. Tomasz Czechowski is a Director of R&D Department at Novilet. He is a specialist in the field of EPR image reconstruction and medical physics. He graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University and received a Ph. D degree in 2001. He gained most of his experience during his working career in the USA. Dr. Czechowski held a Post Doc position at Denver University for two years, and a short term Post Doc position at Dartmouth University. He received a scholarship for “Outstanding young scientists” awarded from the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education. Since 2012 Dr. Czechowski is a member of EMR-PL “Polish Group of Electron Magnetic Resonance”.
Dr. Czechowski is an author of many articles and holder of several patents, with over 150 citations. So, far he was awarded with more than 15 prices for his research work. Since 2009 he has coordinated projects focused on ERI technology development.
Dynamic 3D ERI measurements
Our last webinar will focus on the results and projects that were carried with our device. We will show in which fields you can use ERI and what information has been gathered during the imaging process. We would like to show you the dynamic imaging of the spin probe, redox dynamic as well as 4D tumour Oximetry.
Dr. Michał Gonet
Dr. Michał Gonet is a biophysicist interested in EPR imaging of laboratory animals. He is a member of the R&D Department at Novilet and an Expert of Electron Resonance Imaging. He had graduated from The Jagiellonian University in Kraków in 2013 and he received his PhD in 2021. Dr. Gonet is experienced with in vivo EPRI experiments. He gained his experience during his internships at the University of Chicago. Dr. Gonet is a scientist constantly looking for new challenges to learn and to expand his horizons. He is an author of articles, speeches and co-author of a chapter in the book. His expertise is in signal processing, image reconstruction, image registration and development of methodologies for pre-clinical imaging.
